Exiting news! Bramble Workshop will be creating a large-scale paper installation at the Portland International Airport!
My concept for this installation is a fanciful journey through Portland’s Forest Park (one of the largest urban forest’s in the country) and into it’s famous International Rose Test Garden. The piece will be created entirely from paper. It will be installed in an enormous display case that is 39 feet long, 9 feet high, and 4 feet deep and will be up for one year, starting in April. This work of art will be seen by 20 million travelers!
To translate my vision and create this piece, I plan on crafting dense layers of paper ferns, leaves, vines, mosses and paper mâche mushrooms to depict the lush diversity of Forest Park. The Rose garden will be created from hanging clouds of fluffy crepe paper roses and the two environments will intermingle toward the center of the case. The entire piece will be incredibly detailed and textural.
We’re just starting to build the installation and will be posting in-progress photos on Instagram, #papergardenPDX.
