“Arbor to Ether” is inspired by two of Portland’s natural gems – Forest Park and the International Rose Test Garden. The installation, made entirely of hand-crafted, paper botanical elements, is an abstracted journey from forest to garden to sky. Clusters of swirling leaves intermingle with blossoming roses and then become clouds of ruffly blooms floating off into the sky. Just as Forest Park and the Rose Garden are a place of refuge within the bustling city, my hope is that this installation will offer you a moment of calm in the midst of your travels. This piece was specifically designed for the Portland International Airport to showcase the unique, natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
“Arbor to Ether” is currently on view at the Portland International Airport through May 2020. Concourse DE, past security, near Gate E1.
