Interview with Crystal Bridges Museum
“I love flowers and botany in general and I’ve worked with paper a lot- it’s probably my favorite material. For this project I had a lot of people helping because there are 290 paper flowers. I organized two nights of people from my community coming in to help, drinking wine and learning how to make flowers.
The title is from a poem by Emily Dickinson (There is another sky) which is about an imaginary world where leaves are evergreen and flowers never fade. I saw this piece as an interpretation of that- the act of making flowers out of paper in an attempt to make them permanent.” – Jessica Pezalla

We Want Your Job: Interview on Design*Sponge
“Sometimes the best jobs are the ones we invent for ourselves. In 2012 designer Jessica Pezalla stumbled upon ‘a niche market for handcrafted, one-of-a-kind objects, event decor, retail displays, and art installations,’ and brought her talent as an artist to the founding of Bramble Workshop in Portland, OR. While she always sensed she’d be employed in creative pursuits, she followed an unconventional path and invented a career to match her artistic skills.” – Annie Werbler

Custom chandelier for Oh Joy! Studio
Featured on Oh Joy! and Emily Henderson
“We commissioned Jessica’s team and showed her the general art direction/design of the space but left the materials and style up to her — as you should when commissioning artists. She came back with some renderings that reflected this mid-century style piece made from walnut and we loved it.” – Emily Henderson

Interview on Brit+Co
“A classically trained artist and sculptor, Portland-based Jessica spends her days creating one-of-a kind retail displays, event decor and custom art installations. … Basically, she makes pretty things for a living, and yes, it’s her dream job. She works in a wide range of mediums, but always tends to gravitate toward paper and textiles.” – Anjelika Temple
